December 2012 – Report of Carbon Monoxide injection completed. An in depth report correlating the potential buildup of carbon monoxide in both crawl spaces and buildings in ppm when rodent burrows are treated in close proximity and one hundred percent of the exhaust gas was vented into the crawl space or the building. This report is both very detailed and determines the actual gas insertion time necessary to keep well within the maximum 35ppm levels determined by the EPA as safe levels in inhabited structures.
This report determines that burrows treated with the PERC® system within the perimeter of an inhabited structure for three minutes or less per injection site will never meet or exceed the EPA 35ppm safe levels of CO within the structure.
This report was done to give the mathematical computation of the given delivery rate of exhaust gas at a given pressure and composition of 25,000 ppm of CO in any application in close vicinity of an inhabited structure. The goal was to find the maximum injection time at any one injection site required to stay under the 35 ppm of CO EPA recommendation. We intended it to help Departments of Pesticide Application agencies have a tool to set policy. In fact, the complexity of the report as well as the lack of ability of DPA personal to understand the report has made this work beyond their scope.
